Membership is open to locally based firms with full service commercial law practices, including commercial litigation, with an appetite for international business issues. Generally there is only one LAW member firm for a major city. A large country may have several member firms in distinct business centers. All member firms are independent firms who are not affiliated for the practice of law.

Prospective members are asked to complete a firm Profile, which is reviewed by the Executive Committee. This form allows the Executive Committee to gather important comparative information about a prospect candidate. If the Executive Committee approves the profile, the prospective member will then be invited to complete an Application for Membership. If approved by the Executive Committee, that application is then circulated for review by all members.

While we prefer that members belong to LAW only, membership in other networks is permitted, and the firm may continue to make referrals outside of LAW if it wishes.

Members pay a joining fee upon joining LAW as well as annual dues. The members meet in the spring for Regional Meetings and in the fall for the Annual General Meeting. We have developed the following documents to help interested parties learn more about LAW: Information Sheet, Executive Summary of Member Advantages and a Chart of Member Jurisdictions by Region.
